Due to their variable and changing nature, recipes are difficult to copyright.
For example:
- A list of ingredients can not be protected by copyright
- The exact wording for a method can be protected by copyright if it is deemed to be 'unique'
- Revising the wording for a known method does not breach the original author's copyright
A method could be considered 'unique' if it contains information personal or specific to the author e.g. "My grandmother used to make this for me every Sunday..." or "I like to make this for my five year old daughter...".
All members who submit recipes to Wrapperville Kitchen should use their OWN WORDS to describe the method for a particular recipe.
By all means acknowledge the original source of the idea, but the text of the recipe should be your own.
If you believe a recipe on this site infringes on your copyright please send an email to admin@wrappervillekitchen.com.
Please include any additional information that supports your claim e.g. where your recipe was originally published, exact text of the method etc.
